Kingdom Eubacteria

Kingdom Eubacteria:
·         Single celled prokaryotes
·         No nucleus or membrane bound organelles
·         Moth have peptidoglycan cell walls
·         Live in all types of environments (including human body)
·          Reproduce by binary fission or budding (asexual)
·         Autotrophs (photosynthesis) or heterotrophs

Defining Characteristics:
·         Bacteria only has three common forms- Bacteria is names by shape: rod shapes- bacilli, spiral shape- spirilla or spirochetes, and spiral bacteria- cocci
·        No nucleus
·        Moves and has cell wall- differentiates from a plant
Adaptations:
·     -    anaerobic respiration (can do when need oxygen)
·      -   swapping of plasmids (bacteria sex)- makes genetic variation possible
Ecological Importance:
·     -    break down food, make vitamins, keep harmful microbes away in humans
·     -    Some bacteria produce oxygen (photosynthesis)
·     -    Help recycle carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and sulfur
·     -    Some can digest oil- helps clean up oil spills

2.) Bacillus Cereus
4.) Typically found in soil
      Food poisoning
5.)-Food poisoning since 1955
- produces one emetic toxin
-  Long incubation B. cereus food poisoning is frequently associated with meat
- causes two types of food borne intoxication- opposed to infections
                                    - symptoms are diarrhea and emetic which last a time frame of about 24 hours
