Kingdom Plantae

Description:
-multicellular
-eukaryotic
-cell walls made of cellulose
- use photosynthesis (autotrophs)
-leaves collect sunlight and convert to glucose
-plants have chloroplast
-sexual and asexual

Defining Characteristics:
-only organisms with cell wall
-chloroplast- if plants is green then it has a chloroplast (convert sunlight to chemical energy)

Evolutionary Adaptations:
-Cell wall
-Chloroplast
- stomata keeps in water (useful for desert plants)
roots grow underground and spread

Ecological Importance:
-Produce oxygen
-converts sunlight to chemical energy
-other kingdoms cant survive without plants
-a main food source

Example: Helianthus annuus (Sun flower)
4. habitat- prairies and dry open areas
ninche- produce oil, spread seeds (usually grown on farms), food source (seeds)
5. -a single sunflower head hosts hundreds of tiny flowers called florets
- The sunflower belongs to the genus Helianthus annus. "Helios" translates to sun in Greek and "annus" means the flower is an annual
-sunflower head is to point east towards sunrise
- Sunflowers are grown for their edible seeds
-  seeds can also replace nuts as a substitution in most recipes with ease

Tomato
This is hydrotropism. Hydrotropism is the growth of a plant in response to the presence of water or moisture. For example, the roots of tomatoes grow downward in the direction of water.
Sunflower
This is phototropism. Phototropism is the growth of a plant in the direction of its light source. Sunflowers are a good source of phototropism. They face the direction of the sunlight for their growth.
